The four stages
  1. Stage a

    Site visit at low water.

Most jobs start with a site visit at low water, wherever the site is. The wall, the bed and the chain are read in the open, and what the survey has to cover is agreed before a boat is booked.

  2. Stage b

    Sounding, then the specification.

We survey the bed first, then we specify the mooring. Sinker positions, chain condition at the bed and the holding ground under each are read off the soundings, and the drawing reaches you before anything is ordered.

  3. Stage c

The works, on the tide table.

Divers and works crew go in at slack water and use the windows the tide gives. A groyne is repaired at low water and inspected at the next one. The person you speak to is on the boat.

  4. Stage d

    Report and sign off.

A written report with drawings and photographs, and a recommendation you can act on or put out to tender. The work is inspected at the next low water and signed off against the drawing.
